On the 10th of May, 2016, we held our first ever PDA/GSC facilitated vendor show in Sackler 114!
We had over 100 grad students, postdocs, technicians, PIs and MDs come grab lunch, chat to 9 different vendors and help support the efforts of the PDA and GSC. The gracious contributions from the vendors helped to over double the PDA budget for the next year – allowing us to put on even bigger and better events for the Tufts Community!
We are joined by acclaimed tenured Professor, author and mentor extraordinaire, Karen Kelsky who founded and is President of the “Professor Is In”. She is delving into how to hack into the elusive academic job market.
We were joined by Jennifer Blank, financial adviser from Ameriprise Financial on how best to manage your personal finances:

Preparing Your Non-Academic Resume: An Interactive Workshop with White Consulting, LLC – Friday, January 29th 5-7:30pm
White Consulting, LLC was founded in 2013 by Colin White and Anthony Collmann, two Harvard Medical School-trained Ph.D. Research Scientists who transitioned from academia to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
Colin and Anthony are passionate about providing career development services to those wishing to make a transition out of the academic laboratory. Representatives of White Consulting, LLC have spoken at science careers fairs, sat on post-doctoral association discussion panels, and lectured both graduate students and post-doctoral fellows on a variety of topics relevant to transitioning into a non-academic career. We pride ourselves on taking the time to make sure that all those in attendance gain an appreciation for the importance of the skills necessary to move outside the academic world.
This in depth workshop takes the audience through a series of interactive exercises that leaves each individual with a clear understanding of what is necessary to strongly position your non-academic resume, as well as various techniques to both appreciate and showcase your transferable skills. Members of the audience work together in small groups to complete a variety of exercises ranging from how to write a strong professional summary through formatting and submission of the final document. Please join us for a fun, interactive workshop with members of White Consulting, LLC. A light meal will be served after the workshop during our post-seminar networking event.
This event is free, but reservations are required. Please bring your resume or CV to this event to gain the most benefit from attending!
